I have read other things by Cortazar-namely, short stories. "This is not a novel to be tossed aside lightly. In fact, I'm going to borrow a line from Dorothy Parker to sum up my feelings on it: Actually, I stopped reading it about 1/3 of the way through. Aside from saying that sadism (and, most especially, sexual sadism) is not a personal turn-on for me, I'd prefer to not elaborate upon my reasons for not liking Hopscotch.
